Revitalising Audiences: Innovations in European Audience Research (provisional title)
Frauke Zeller, Cristina Ponte and Brian O´Neill (editors)
Revitalising Audience Research is the third volume of the COST Action IS0906 ‘Transforming Audience, Transforming Societies’. Bringing together pioneering research on key transformations of European audiences within a changing media and communication environment, this collection looks at the complex interrelationships that exist at the social, cultural and political level of contemporary European societies.
Following the publication of the first edited volume of the Action, Researching Audiences in Transformation, encompassing new challenges and methodological innovations in audience research, and the second volume Transformations, promoting the principle research themes of the Action, this third edited volume provides a platform for innovative approaches in audience research from across the breadth of the Action’s interests.
More concretely, this volume focuses on processes and means to revitalise the academic field of audience research. This book will address problems and challenges of current audience research that were outlined in the first book (as well as those not mentioned in it) by adding a distinct and fresh perspective. This fresh perspective includes a number of new approaches that build on existing innovations but broaden and integrate them across audience studies.
