When audience expectation is constantly being raised by other media, can the experience of listening to the radio really remain in the analogue domain? Many commentators seem to think it can. Others think it can remain partly analogue but benefit from some advantages of digital technology, if there’s a commercial advantage. This chapter explores the development of digital radio services in the United Kingdom.
