‘Mediated Public Voice, Easy on the Ear?’
Turkoglu, N. (2011). ‘Mediated Public Voice, Easy on the Ear?’ . Zagreb conference: "New challenges and methodological innovations in European media audience research". 7-9 April 2011.
Abstract: This paper deals with the problematic of methodology with an eye of theory in practice. The arguments will be applied on a recent research on the transformation of audiences I conduct in Turkey last year. How should an audience research on public participation be meaningful, grounded in the contemporary media environment? How and where to find the roots of mediated public voices? In the first part, I will begin with the limits of the empirical research in media and communications and will propose walking for a tour at the borders of the methodology. The second part will give some examples in searching for the pathways to comprehend the liveliness of the woven network we are looking at.
